The Adopt-a-Block Initiative is a simple way for neighbors to take pride in their immediate surroundings and make a visible impact in Thomas Square.

Choose a block. Gather a few neighbors. Start making it better—together.

How It Works

Each block on the map can be adopted by a small group of neighbors, led by a Block Representative who serves as the main point of contact.

Once adopted, your group will:

• Take pride in your block

• Identify opportunities for improvement

• Coordinate simple, impactful efforts throughout the year

This isn’t about perfection, it’s about consistent, neighbor-led care.

What Can You Do on Your Block?

Every block is different, and so is every group. Here are just a few ideas of ways neighbors can get involved:
​

• Organize litter clean-ups in your adopted block area

• Improve and maintain tree lawns and green spaces

• Identify and report infrastructure or safety concerns

• Create a simple "block watch" presence to identify public safety concerns

• Organize casual gatherings or meetups with block neighbors

• Welcome new neighbors and build connections

Identify a Block Representative

This is a low-lift, flexible role—you’re simply helping coordinate, not doing everything yourself.

As a Block Representative, you’ll:

• Serve as the main contact for your block

• Help organize occasional efforts (no heavy lift required)

• Coordinate with TSNA as support or resources are needed
